As I looked up from my open plan kitchen into the lounge, I saw it and I felt it. I loved it. I will never forget it. Because what I saw was pure magic. What I saw was glowing with goodness. What I saw was the beauty of soulful sisterhood.
A few weeks back, my closest and most beloved girls joined me on my hen-do to celebrate the start of this new phase in my life. We laughed and cried, discussed and debated, danced and twirled. It was the most unforgettable weekend full of goodness and I felt so blessed to be surrounded by these beautiful souls. And, there’s more.
The most magical part of the weekend wasn’t getting spoiled by them (even when I loved it). It wasn’t the touching, loving words they said (which overwhelmed me with emotion). It even wasn’t the laugh out loud moments which we got to through some serious girl talk, hilarious confessions and some feisty dance moves (which should be on a dance show). No, it wasn’t any of those things even though they were all incredible.
To me, the most magical part of the weekend was watching the beauty of soulful sisterhood. All these girls came from different eras of my life and didn’t necessarily have much in common other than me. Yet, they got along magically. Why? Because they knew the unspoken rules of soulful sisterhood.
Respect. Kindness. Curiosity. Love.
Knowing you’re different and celebrating those differences. Knowing that those differences are what makes each one of us so beautifully unique.
Being curious about each others’ choices, lifestyles and personalities rather than judging them.
Accepting each other for who they are and encouraging each other to show up as that person every single day.
Supporting and encouraging each other on the adventurous path that is life.
Watching my girls interact made this vividly clear to me. I was – and I am – surrounded by a beautiful soulful sisterhood.
Ladies: you know who you are. Thank you for being in my life. I feel like the luckiest girl alive. You really are the most beautiful soul sisters anyone could have and my heart is bursting with love and gratitude towards you.
To me, you are the beautiful women that this quote by Bindu perfectly describes:
“Women who understand how powerful they are do not give into envy over meaningless things, instead they fight to maintain the beautiful bond of the sisterhood. These are the real women who know that we need each other’s love and support to survive in this world. Love is the essence of being a woman. We must be that light of love that seals the bond and unique beauty of our sisterhood.”
Now, go and share this with your soulful sisterhood. Tell them how much you love them and appreciate them. Keep them close.
Sending you light and love,
