International Women’s Day has been around for over 100 years. We should thank the Suffragettes for this as they were the first women to really shout about their rights in the early 1900s. Because of them, we now have a voice – and it’s only getting stronger, louder, and bolder.
This year’s International Women’s Day focuses on #PressforProgress. Even though we are way beyond where we used to be, we still have a long way to go. According to the World Economic Forum’s 2017 Global Gender Gap Report, gender parity is still a good 200 years away. That’s not good enough. That’s far from good enough.
We need to fight for gender parity today. Not just for ourselves but for our sisters, best friends, daughters, and granddaughters – and for every woman who is yet to come. How? Like this:
Be a woman of courage, of conviction, and of confidence.
Be bold, brave, and badass.
Speak up and let yourself be heard.
Listen closely and understand deeply.
Be honest and also kind.
Be the type of fierce woman you want to go to war besides.
Let yourself feel love, give love, and receive love.
Find out where you belong yet also walk your own path.
Swim out of the shallow end and dive deep.
Have your own style and live your own way.
Fall – and rise back up again.
Fail – and learn a lesson with every failure.
Take up challenges – and be resilient with them.
Be unstoppable – but also ask for help.
Be better – every day.
Believe and be believed.
Be who you are and stand tall for what you believe in.
Think your own thoughts and ask the questions you want.
Say the shit you want and understand why.
Have a clear purpose and a determined drive.
Wear your strength as much as you wear your softness.
Explore the places you’ve never been.
Lead the crowd to places you’re meant to lead them to.
Write your own story and live it with pride.
Have a save the world type warrior goddess vibe.
Share this with one of your soul sisters who inspires you and helps you to be the strong, beautiful woman you are. Tell them what they mean to you and how together you are stronger and how together you can #PressforProgress.
With that, I wish you a very Happy International Women’s Day! May today and the rest of this year be full of girlpower!
Sending you light, love & joy,
